I found the factory magazine release lever on my CZ 457 MTR Varmint was too small and difficult to reliably access for my use in benchrest shooting. Before ordering it, I sent an email to Lone Nation R&D asking if their release lever would work with both metal and plastic magazines since I had seen other aftermarket vendors that make extended-release levers only work with the plastic magazines. I got a prompt response saying it would work with both but that most of the testing had been done with the plastic ones. I ordered it and had no issues getting it installed. It extends out of the bottom of the rifle a bit farther than the standard CZ and other aftermarket release levers. In use it was just what I was looking for. It is easy to find “by feel” and reliably releases the magazines, both 5-round metal ones and 10-round plastic ones from CZ.

Beyond fantastic. This part lets me release the magazines without a fight. The OEM is too small. The others are also too small. Lost Nation got it perfect.

This mag release is amazing! The factory release is way to small this release adds a nice amount of length and it’s metal! I am leaving this review as I’m back to order another one for the wife’s CZ

I bought 2 of these for my CZ452 Scout and CZ457 in Manners stock. Both exclusively use steel mags. I installed one on CZ457 and did not have good experience with it. For inserting and ejecting the magazines, it gets 5 stars as it’s much easier and smoother than what I had before. However, the mags sit very loosely in the magwell (lots of play, especially the up/down movement.) They sit lower than it should (due to its weight, gravity), causing the bolt to just glide over the top of the round (thus round not chambered.) This happens over 50% of the time. As a remediation, I had to push the mag up the magwell when chambering the new round. I found it too tedious and it was not worth the effort and frustrations.
I can’t say this would happen to the poly mags, as they are lighter with different profile. I’m just saying it’s not working for steel mags on my rifle. I didn’t even install it on my CZ452 Scout. So these go into the CZ spare parts bin. Thanks.
